Square COB Downlight — technical dimensions

A square fixture reads very differently from a round one in a ceiling — it lines up with walls, beams and joinery, which is why it gets specified in modern interiors where the ceiling grid is part of the design.

Lumen output varies with CCT and beam angle.

Single or twin?

The single is the everyday fixture — a square alternative to a round downlight, on the same kind of ceiling grid. The twin doubles the output from one opening, which matters over a long surface such as a kitchen counter or a reception desk, where two beams cover the run better than one. On a plain ceiling, fewer large openings also look cleaner than a row of small ones.

Both are 83mm deep, so the plenum requirement is the same either way. Mark the twin cut-out carefully at 155 × 77mm — a rectangular opening cannot be widened neatly once it is cut, so fix the model before the ceiling is marked.

Square or round?

It is a decision about the ceiling, not the light. A square fixture aligns with the edges of a room and with rectangular joinery, so it suits gypsum ceilings, cove details and modern interiors. A round COB downlight disappears more easily into a plain ceiling and comes in a far wider range, from 7W to 50W across eleven series.

Both use the same COB engine and the same driver, so the quality and colour of the light are identical. Only the shape of the hole changes.

Build

LM80 certified LEDs, a BIS approved driver with built-in PFC and up to 4kV surge protection, and a powder-coated aluminium die-cast housing. Protection covers short circuit, open circuit, over voltage, under voltage and 440V input. Available in black and white.

Every Square COB is available in Economy and Premium build, and in a Smart (WiFi / app-controlled) version — the same fixture, with app and voice control built in. Made in India at our own facility in Ahmedabad.
