The Royal is the slimmer, taller cylinder. At every wattage it is narrower across and longer down the ceiling than the plain Cylinder, which gives a more upright profile.

Lumen output varies with CCT and beam angle.
The light is the same; the proportion is not. The 18W Royal is 74mm across and 105mm long, against 80mm across and 82mm long for the plain Cylinder. On a high ceiling the longer body reads as a deliberate design element; on a low ceiling it hangs down and gets in the way.
The narrower diameter also helps in a tight row. Where cylinders are placed close together along a corridor or over a counter, the Royal keeps the line looking light rather than heavy.
