A cylinder light is surface mounted — it fixes onto the ceiling rather than inside it. No hole is cut and no plenum depth is needed, which makes it the answer for concrete slabs, exposed roofs, rented premises where the ceiling cannot be touched, and open interiors where a visible fixture is part of the design.
Our cylinder models

How to choose a cylinder light
Two things decide it. Ceiling height comes first: on a 9 or 10 foot ceiling a long body hangs into eye level, so the Bold is the safer pick, while a high ceiling carries the taller Royal well. Whether the light needs aiming comes second: if a display, a wall or a counter is being lit and may be rearranged later, the Movable pays for itself the first time something is moved.
Wattage follows the same rule as any downlight. Cylinders are available from 7W to 18W, in warm white, natural white and cool white, with beam angles from 15° to 60°.
Surface mounted or recessed?
Where a false ceiling already exists and there is space above it, a recessed COB downlight looks neater, because nothing projects into the room. A cylinder is the right answer when cutting is not possible, when the ceiling is concrete, or when a visible fixture suits the design. Both use the same COB engine and the same driver, so the quality of light is identical — the choice is about the ceiling, not the light.
What goes into a Rayna cylinder light
The COB LED itself is a semiconductor chip coated with a phosphor to set the colour temperature. Behind it sits the LED driver, which is the heart of any fixture and the part that decides how long it lasts — ours are BIS approved, with built-in PFC and up to 4kV surge protection. The body is aluminium die-cast and powder coated, so it pulls heat away from the chip and keeps its finish in humid and coastal conditions.
Protection covers short circuit, open circuit, over voltage, under voltage and 440V input. Every model is available in Economy and Premium build, with warranty up to 60 months depending on the build.
