Orio Trimless COB Downlight — technical dimensions

The Orio Trimless is the same optic as the standard Orio, fitted without a visible rim. The fixture sits inside a plaster ring that is set into the ceiling before the finishing coat, so once the POP work is done nothing shows except the opening itself.

Lumen output varies with CCT and beam angle. Dimensions are for the plaster ring opening.

How a trimless fitting is installed

This one has to be planned before the ceiling is finished, not after. The plaster ring goes into the false ceiling first. The POP or gypsum coat is then worked right up to the ring, so the ceiling surface and the fixture opening become a single continuous line. The light itself goes in last, once the ceiling is painted.

That order cannot be reversed. A trimless fitting cannot be added to a finished ceiling without cutting and re-plastering, so it has to be specified at the design stage.

Trimless or standard Orio?

The light output, the cut-out and the beam options are identical. The difference is entirely in what the ceiling looks like afterwards.

The standard Orio has a slim visible rim, goes into a finished ceiling in minutes, and can be removed and replaced by anyone. The Trimless disappears completely, which is what an architect usually wants in a designed ceiling — but it costs more, adds a step to the ceiling work, and cannot be moved later.

On most projects both get used: trimless in the areas the client sees first, standard in corridors, service areas and anywhere a ceiling may need to be opened again.

Finishes

Black and White. With a trimless fitting the finish matters less than usual, since almost nothing of the fixture remains visible.
