Platinum COB Downlight — technical dimensions

The Platinum is the one where the inside of the fixture is part of the design. The reflector comes in rose gold, gun metal or gold, set against a black or white body, so the ceiling opening reads as a finished detail rather than a plain hole.

Lumen output varies with CCT and beam angle.

Choosing a reflector finish

The reflector colour changes the light as well as the look. A gold or rose gold reflector warms the beam slightly and flatters wood, brass, skin tones and food — which is why it is the usual pick for restaurants, hotel rooms and jewellery counters. Gun metal keeps the beam neutral and reads as a dark opening in the ceiling, so it suits contemporary interiors and darker ceilings.

The body is specified separately in black or white. A white body against a white ceiling makes the fixture disappear from a distance while the coloured reflector still shows when you stand under it; a black body keeps the whole fixture recessive.

Choosing a wattage

The 7W and 12W are the general sizes for a ceiling grid at 8 to 10 feet. The 18W is the one to use where the ceiling is higher or the light has to reach a specific surface — a counter, a dining table, a display run.

Note that the 18W is 100mm deep. Confirm the plenum before specifying it. If the false ceiling is shallow, the Leaf gives the same output in a much shorter body, though without the reflector options.

Where the Platinum fits in the range
